Montreal, Canada.—The Honoris Causa Foundation (FHC) and the InterAlcaldes Foundation announce the Mexico Pavilion at InterAlcaldes Fest Canada 2026, a space that will bring the Canadian community, the Mexican diaspora, and international investors closer to the culture, economy, and municipal talent of Tlalpan, Zapopan, and Monterrey. Under the concept “Mexico’s World Cup cities, present in the World Cup city of Montreal,” the pavilion will combine cultural, economic, and social showcases.

The program will feature lucha libreregional gastronomyarts and musicshared history, and municipal expertise. Visitors will experience lucha libre shows as an emblem of popular identity, a culinary corridor showcasing flavors from Mexico City, Jalisco, and Nuevo León, artistic and artisanal exhibitions, and an immersive historical zone. Each municipality will present its best practices: policies for security and mobility, innovation districts, sports tourism, creative economies, and academic cooperation.

To strengthen economic ties, the pavilion will host city-to-city business forums, meetings with chambers of commerce and universities, and matchmaking sessions for creative industries, civic technology, tourism, and sports. The goal is to transform the cultural celebration into a development platform: promoting tourism routes, building supply chains, attracting international fairs and competitions, and expanding municipal cooperation between Canada and Mexico.

As part of the tributes, FHC has nominated Manuel Negrete as President of the Advisory Council of InterAlcaldes Fest Canada 2026. The commemoration will highlight the 40th anniversary of the “most beautiful goal” of Mexico ’86 with the installation of a replica of the Independence Bell, symbolizing national pride and unity. This piece will serve as the civic heart of the pavilion, complemented by a didactic program for new generations on sports, discipline, and community values.

“Sports and culture are bridges: they connect neighborhoods, cities, and countries. I proudly join this effort that honors our history and calls on us to build the future from the local level,” said Manuel Negrete, upon accepting the proposal to chair the Advisory Council.

From the organizers, InterAlcaldes emphasizes that the pavilion was conceived to merge culture and economy: “We want the community to experience Mexico in Montreal: to taste our flavors, enjoy our traditions, and at the same time, discover the governance capacity of Tlalpan, Zapopan, and Monterrey to attract investment, tourism, and talent. These are cities that compete on the global stage while working together to bring prosperity to their residents.”

The Mexico Pavilion will also feature a dialogue stage where mayors, council members, athletes, chefs, historians, and academics will share best practices on topics such as organizing mega-events, sports diplomacy, nighttime economies, security for public gatherings, digital permitting systems, tourism promotion, and youth inclusion in sports and cultural policies. Families will enjoy interactive activities, musical showcases, and photo installations, ensuring that visitors leave with memorable experiences.

Accredited media will have access to a special agenda of interviews with municipal authorities and Manuel Negrete, as well as guided tours through the culinary zone, the lucha libre arena, and the Bell installation. Companies interested in sponsorships or product showcases—from food and beverages to civic technology and event solutions—will find packages offering visibility and live demonstrations.

InterAlcaldes Fest Canada 2026 reaffirms that the Canada–Mexico relationship is strengthened through cities. By bringing to Montreal a unique showcase of culture and governance, Tlalpan, Zapopan, and Monterrey commit to a model of municipal cooperation that inspires investment, sustainable tourism, and the mobility of creative and sports talent.
